See where your Discord members come from

Discord’s member list tells you when someone joined. It doesn’t tell you what brought them. If you share one invite in your newsletter, your bio, a Reddit post and a partner’s stream, every one of those joins looks the same.

One invite for each place

The fix is to stop sharing one invite. Make a separate invite for each place you post, and name them so you remember which is which. In Discord, Server Settings, Invites lists every invite and how many times it has been used.

Why counting by hand drifts

• Two people joining at the same moment can make it unclear which invite each used.
• People who join through your vanity URL or Server Discovery don’t use any of your invites.
• Deleting or expiring an invite takes its count with it.
• A use count says nothing about whether those people stayed.

Letting Referr do it

Referr gives each campaign a Discord invite and a website link for every place you post, and matches each join to the link that brought it as it happens. When two joins land together, it checks again a little later. When it still can’t be sure, it says “unable to attribute” rather than guess. Then it keeps following those people, so you see who stayed as well as who came. Make your first campaign.
